Movie Night @ Dawns

Hey All!

We just finished the movie night and I thought I'd update before I forget what we did. We had a small group here since about everyone is back at college that is not local. We started off the evening with the fun process of picking out a movie. After we all used our one veto we finally decided on "Runaway Jury". We all enjoyed the movie but we decided we were hungry so after the movie we walked to the local Taco Bell/Gas Station for food. We headed back to the apartment and then decided to watch the "Wedding Singer". Much laughing ensued as we enjoyed the movie. We ended the night by hanging and talking for awhile.

One note of interest: We've changed the plans for next week. We are going to have a "Colts vs Bears Party" Details to follow later in the week. :)

Worship Night

So last night we had a worship night which was led by our most wonderful spectacular worship leader Emily McCullough. It was a really great setting to just come and worship. Julie, Jon M, Nelson B., and Emily made a really great atmosphere by lighting candles, doing low lighting, and having a very fun chair set up. Emily led us for a couple of songs and then Steve Chupp got up and spoke about love. He really challenged us all about how to show God we loved Him. The one statement that stuck with me was you only love Jesus as much as you love the person that you love the least. I'm paraphrasing on that one so you can ask Steve if you want word for word. Anyway, after Steve talked then Emily got up and played some more and we had a great time of just praying for each other and worshiping God. I hope that we can make this a more common event because it truely is great to spend a night encountering God. After the "service" we all decided we wanted Dairy Queen so we drove our many vehicles to get ice cream, food, drinks, etc... and enjoy them in the beautiful out door cafe of Dairy Queen. Ok so maybe beautiful is the wrong adjective but you get my point.

Next week is a pool party at Jake Stutzman's house at 2:00 pm so bring bathing suits, towels, games, snacks, and money to get pizza! Hope to see you there

Dunes Trip

This post is late and it's my fault.
Anyway, two Sundays ago we went to the Warren Dunes in Michigan. We left for the Dunes right after church and the drive there was good. The Dunes were so popular that there were cars lined up waiting to go in. Once we were in, we were surprised that the beach wasn't busier. We found a spot and we put our canopy up. Next we kind of split up as a group; some of the group worked on their tan, while others went in the water. In the water we continued our favorite game, monkey in the middle. No matter who is playing it is always a good time. ( The monkeys always look so funny) Sometime later we all converge under the canopy and ate some food. Then we decided to bury some people in the sand. Somehow, I got to be the oddest sand shape, a volcano. Others got to be a mermaid or a starfish but I got to be a volcano. I would have loved to be a mermaid or a starfish but I guess a volcano is just too manly. We finished up the day playing beach vollyball. It wasn't very competitive but it was enjoyable. Of course we couldn't go to the Warren Dunes withour climbing the Dunes which the males accomplished right before we pulled out. It is always hard to climb that sand hill but it is so much fun to run down it. To finish the day off we ate at different resteraunts near the Dunes and went home. It was a lot of fun and I was very sore the next day.

Don't forget about worship night next week!

Outdoor Video Night!!!

Sunday night, several of us gathered at my place to enjoy an outdoor video night. As we waited for everyone to show up, and waited on it to get dark enough outside, we played Guitar Hero III. Most of us stumbled around on easy or medium, while Katrina blew us all away on Hard. After several rousing turns on Guitar Hero, we made our way outside to brave the now cold weather, to make s'mores and start the movie. After finally coming to a conclusion as to which movie we should watch (the process what quite amusing), we started Italian Job. Most of us had seen it before, but we all enjoyed it just the same. When the movie came to an end, by popular vote, we started another. By now it was pitch black out, so we pulled the projector back, and had a truly large screen. For the second movie we watched Johnny English. By the time that movie was over, it was quite late (but very much worth while).
We hope to have another movie night in September, (but we plan to have it on a Friday night, so that less people will have to work the next morning).

Next Sunday we will be having a Worship night. It will be great so plan to attend!

God Bless,
Jacob
